WEATHERIZATION VOLUNTEERS MADE 3 HOMES WARMER TODAY PLUS 5 HEARTS!!!

Saturday November 8, 2008, 5 of Victorious Life's members gathered at the courthouse at 9:00am with many many other people to venture out into the community to help the elderly.  Chris, Amanda, Larry, Ross and Carla reached out to 3 homes in Ashe County today to help make their homes a little warmer.  We removed the window treatments, cleaned the window and attached plastic over the windows and re-hung the window treatments, of these homes to help prevent the winter winds from coming inside.  These families were so delighted we came to help them do something they could not do themselves.  The 5 of us enjoyed the fellowship of each other as we worked together and had a meal together.  The 5 of us also enjoyed the homeowners.  But, on the way back Chris said she wondered who got more out of today, the homeowners or us? ........ 

Well, I think the answer to that question is “us”.  The joy of knocking on someone's door and seeing their faces when you say, “we are here to help you”, is simply breathtaking.  The warmth that is in your heart when the task is finished and you say good-by to the homeowner and the excitement and thrill they show to you is more than words can express.  This is just the beginning of VLLC outreach.

Special thanks to Ashe Co. social services for setting us up with the homes and thanks to the Ashe Co. Home Builders Association for donating the supplies.  God was at work today in all of us.
